QR Code Data Export & Portability

QR code export data capabilities should be a right, not a premium feature. On QR Nova, every plan — including free — lets you export all your QR codes, destinations, and scan data in JSON or CSV. If you ever leave, we give you everything you need to self-host your redirects. If we ever shut down, you get 90 days notice and a complete export.

Your data, always yours

Your data, always

Zero vendor lock-in, by design

Most QR code platforms trap your data. Export is locked behind enterprise plans or simply unavailable. QR Nova takes the opposite approach: full data portability on every plan. We believe that if we need to hold your data hostage to keep you as a customer, we have failed as a product.

JSON and CSV export on every plan (including free)
Complete redirect map for self-hosting
Self-hosting guide with step-by-step instructions
90-day shutdown guarantee — written into our Terms
API access on Business plan for automated exports
Custom domain for complete DNS-level portability
Open redirect protocol specification (coming 2026)
No per-export fees or download limits

What data portability includes

Every portability feature is available on every plan. We do not gate your own data behind a paywall. Business plan adds API access and custom domains for even more control.

QR code data export — FAQ

Can I export my data on the free plan?

Yes. Every plan on QR Nova — including the free tier — includes full data export in JSON and CSV formats. We do not lock your data behind a paywall. You created the data; it belongs to you.

What happens to my data if QR Nova shuts down?

You get at least 90 days notice and a complete data export. This includes all QR codes, destination URLs, scan data, and a redirect map you can use to self-host. From the Business plan, your QR codes already point to your own domain — so printed codes keep working regardless.

How do I self-host my redirects after leaving?

We provide a detailed self-hosting guide that walks you through setting up a redirect server using Nginx, Caddy, or Cloudflare Workers. The process takes under 30 minutes. Your export includes a complete redirect map that any standard web server can handle.

What is the open redirect protocol?

We are developing an open specification that lets any QR code provider honor another provider's redirect map. The goal is to make switching QR code platforms as easy as transferring a domain name. We plan to publish the spec in 2026 and welcome industry participation.
